Smileys Dictionary:

Het leven in de CyberWereld is af en toe nogal complex, je hebt immers geen manier om je gevoelens uit te drukken en je moet dus alles typen. Dat "ik kom zo terug" hopeloos uitgestorven lijkt en dat je lachen vanzelfsprekend met een smiley doet hoeven we je misschien niet meer te zeggen, maar voor het geval dat wel zo is, bestaat het ABC ! Hier een kort overzicht van bestaande en veelgebruikte smileys en geeft ook een verklaring bij veelgebruikte letterwoorden.

Een smiley gebruik je om je gevoelens uit te drukken, zo zal "dommerik" veel kwetsender overkomen dan "dommerik :-P" omdat je in het tweede geval ziet dat de persoon zelf het niet meent door zijn tong uit te steken (dat hij je dus gewoon aan het plagen is).

Een smiley moet je eigenlijk bekijken met je hoofd 90° gedraaid, dan zie je dat ogen, neus en mond in de smiley zitten. Soms wordt de neus ook gewoon weggelaten of vervangen door een o, bijvoorbeeld :) of :o)

Naast de standaard smileys en gewone icons ook nog op deze pagina "Breasticons" en "Assicons" !

Aangezien vele termen op het internet steeds meer voorkomen worden er afkortingen gebruikt, zo zeg je niet "ik ben direkt terug" , maar zeg je BRB. Nog een heleboel andere afkortingen hieronder !

The Unofficial Smily Dictionary:

:-) Your basic smily. This smily is used to inflect a sarcastic or joking statement since we can't hear voice inflection over Unix.
;-) Winky smily. User just made a flirtatious and/or sarcastic remark. More of a "don't hit me for what I just said" smily.
:-( Frowning smily. User did not like that last statement or is upset or depressed about something.
:-I Indifferent smily. Better than a Frowning smily but not quite as good as a happy smily
